By Gauthier Louppe and Daniel Seret

As the title implies, this book presents a number of violins by makers who have sought to challenge the conventional form dictated by the Stradivari and Guarneri models. The book’s centrepiece is a violin conceived by French violin maker Gauthier Louppe, in collaboration with modern artist Daniel Seret. They attempt to create a violin which is acoustically viable yet based on a modern sense of aesthetics rather than the Baroque aesthetics that dictate the design perfected by Stradivariand Guarneri. To support his case, Mr. Louppe presents violins by other non conformist violin makers, including Charles Mahillon and Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume.

112 stran, brožovaná vazba, 296x209mm, francouzsky
